Job Overview: As a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for performing cable splicing work in various settings, including aerial, underground, and indoor environments. This role requires frequent travel, including overnight stays, and an on-call rotation for emergency restoration during non-peak hours. Essential Responsibilities: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic systems to ensure reliable connectivity. Prepare and install fiber optic enclosures, nodes, and equipment. Route, splice, and terminate fiber at central offices and hub sites. Collaborate with the OSP Project Manager on fusion splicing tasks. Read design maps and fiber schematics to execute projects accurately. Operate aerial lifts and other equipment safely. Be on-call for emergency restoration as needed. Keep management updated on project status and workload. Perform routine construction tasks such as cable pulling and site preparation. Complete required documentation accurately, including timesheets and expense reports. Maintain responsibility for company vehicles, tools, and materials. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Contribute to team efforts to ensure project completion. Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years’ experience with fiber optic splicing. High school diploma or GED required. Experience operating bucket trucks at heights over 30-40 feet. Proficient with splicing equipment including fusion splicers and optical power meters. Ability to distinguish colors accurately. Experience reading design maps and basic electronic schematics. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Physical ability to lift objects up to 80 pounds. A positive attitude and strong work ethic with the ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in fiber optic splicing is a plus. Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
