Armed Security Officer

POSITION SUMMARY: This armed security position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the safety and security of property, visitors, and personnel. Under the supervision of the site Manager, you will engage in activities such as observing and reporting incidents, controlling access, and responding to emergencies. You will assist in preserving order and enforcing site regulations, while patrolling assigned areas and monitoring for any potential security risks. This role necessitates the readiness to respond to unforeseen situations with appropriate escalation, including armed response if required. Proficient handling of security equipment and an emphasis on maintaining a secure environment for clients and visitors is essential. You may encounter stressful situations and are expected to act calmly and professionally at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions serve as the core responsibilities of this job. Specific tasks may vary based on the site and business needs. All assigned tasks are considered essential unless otherwise noted; additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Duties Include: Managing access to the facility to prevent unauthorized entry and assisting legitimate visitors in a timely manner. Responding to emergencies, employing appropriate measures up to armed response, in line with site protocols. Creating a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that employees and visitors feel valued and cared for. Communicating openly and providing necessary information to visitors regarding the site and surroundings. Monitoring access points to restrict unauthorized entry and directing individuals causing disturbances to leave the property. Conducting regular patrols, identifying security violations, hazards, and ensuring general safety. Protecting incident scenes for investigations and managing barriers and signage where necessary. Maintaining accurate logs and reports, using proper grammar and standard procedures for documentation. Reporting unusual incidents or suspicious activities as required, coordinating with management and safety authorities. Handling various emergency situations according to established protocols. Carrying out similar tasks as needed for site requirements. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Preferred U.S. Citizenship. Must be at least 21 years old. Education | Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D. At least two years of armed security or law enforcement experience, or two years of honorable service in the U.S. Armed Forces. Background Prerequisites: Candidates must meet background checks, substance testing, and may have specific physical examination and licensing requirements. Competencies: Meet state and municipal licensing for armed security work. Certification in Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from recognized organizations. Ability to learn security operations and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to follow instructions in various formats. Team-oriented with composure in demanding situations. Adaptable to changing environments and situations. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Exceptional customer service abilities, with a respectful demeanor. Proficient with computer systems and software used in the department. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must maintain physical and mental fitness to perform essential functions effectively. Job demands may include: Composure during urgent and high-pressure situations. Handling sensitive or confidential information. Exposure to stressful scenarios involving security breaches. Utilizing sound judgment in emergencies. Working overtime at short notice. Managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, including climbing and uneven terrain. Occasional physical activities and lifting up to 40 pounds. Clear vision for safety and monitoring purposes. Potential vehicle operation in job duties. Adapting to various work environments and weather conditions.
