Maintains attitudes and behaviors that demonstrate and uphold the Mission Statement of Trinity Woods (TW), supports the TW core values and shows an understanding of TW’s person-centered philosophy. Certified Nurse Assistant Interns are temporary job positions. Upon completion of the 16 week program CNA interns can apply to transfer to permanent TW employment. Job Requirements:Currently enrolled and in good standing with high school education program. Meets all state and local requirements for certification as a Certified Nurse Aide and Food Handling. Commitment to person-centered and resident-directed care is essential. Completion of cross training for household activities, household housekeeping, household laundry and household homemaking, including food service and food handling required. Responsibilities: Meets all resident and household needs by actively assisting (to the extent of cross training and certification) in all tasks to meet identified needs. Clinical Responsible for attending to personal hygiene and personal care needs of the residents of the household, including but not limited to grooming, hygiene, dining and nutritional, mobility, elimination, psychosocial and safety needs. Supports residents in self care, and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs. Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities. Participates actively in the resident’s care planning and care conference, serving as the residents’ closest advocate in directing their care and honoring their preferences. Observes residents closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and reports immediately to nursing or household leadership as appropriate. Consistently works with all household team members, led by resident and family preference to meet the needs and desires of all household residents. Dining Services Helps to prepare and serve appropriate snacks and meals. Requires certification in food handling. Assists elders who are unable to eat without support as appropriate. Facilitates mealtime conversations and maintains a warm, pleasant atmosphere while elders are eating. Assists with kitchen-related activities for the residents. Life Enhancement Assists with the planning and organizing of social activities for individual residents, small groups and for the household. Continually seeks opportunities to support the social needs of all members of the household through support, friendship and kindness. Seeks opportunities throughout the day to facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and household preference; accompanies residents in all activities of choice. Continually seeks opportunities to share person interests and talents with members of the household through both planned and spontaneous activities. Housekeeping Maintains clean spaces in the household, including resident rooms and household common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment. Maintains supply of all materials to meet resident needs in the household. Coordinates work with the household homemaker to ensure the housekeeping needs of the household are met within the staffing resources of the household. Laundry Provides assistance to ensure residents’ personal laundry is maintained in quality condition. Coordinates work with the household homemaker to ensure the personal laundry needs of the residents are met within the staffing resources of the household Performance and Professionalism Maintains professional presence when representing Oklahoma Methodist Manor; exhibits degree of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance. Maintains confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing confidential matters. Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff. Maintains positive working relationships with management and co-workers; willingly follows directions and requests as appropriate. Exhibits professional standards through appearance and demeanor. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work assignments and performs in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures; seeks clarification or interpretation from appropriate supervisor when needed. Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in all relations with others. Professional Development Demonstrates professional development/skills competency in all activities. Participates in in-services, projects, or committees as assigned. Maintains all certifications necessary for employment. Demonstrates flexibility, open mindedness, and versatility in adjusting to changing environments and requirements as necessary. Commits to continually improving his/her skills through participations in education opportunities whether offered on the job, within, or outside of the community, to increase knowledge of work-related issues. Maintains a current knowledge of federal, state and other regulations applicable to job. Safety and SecurityComplies with Oklahoma Methodist Manor’s established safety rules and practices.Complies with applicable safety policies and procedures as prescribed by the organization, as well as government regulations. Reports any potential safety hazard(s) immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel. Reports any injury of resident, visitor, or employee immediately to supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
