The Business Intelligence Analyst role within our Finance Innovation team is crucial in addressing the evolving needs of our stakeholders. As part of Unum's large-scale transformation team, you will significantly contribute to designing advanced finance processes, tools, and analytical capabilities that foster trust and enable swift, informed decision-making. Your responsibilities will primarily focus on creating new data assets, developing scalable processes, and innovating analytical tools. This work will enhance pricing analytics, growth insights, unit cost transparency, and operational intelligence for Finance and business leaders. You will collaborate closely with project teams, data engineers, and cross-functional partners to create innovative solutions from scratch. Utilizing your technical and domain expertise, you'll transform complex data into actionable, meaningful insights with minimal oversight. We seek a curious, forward-thinking candidate driven by the challenge of solving complex data-driven issues. Alongside collaborating with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and other business units to gather requirements and build prototypes, you may mentor junior analysts. An understanding of insurance products, underwriting, or customer experience will enhance your ability to design relevant analytical tools and grasp business drivers. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive data profiling and analysis to evaluate data sources for business insights. Transform and present data into actionable dashboards, reports, or algorithms. Perform statistical analysis to aid leadership decision-making. Collaborate with data engineers on data validation and testing efforts. Develop a solid understanding of the insurance industry and business intelligence technologies. Engage with internal customers to refine requirements and validate outputs. Mentor junior analysts, offering guidance and support as needed. Job Specifications: Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent experience. 4+ years of experience as a BI Analyst I or in a comparable data analytics role. Proficient in programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python. Experienced with modern BI tools like Tableau, Alteryx, or PowerBI. Strong foundation in data profiling, statistical analysis, and data modeling concepts. Skilled in extracting data from various data environments. Ability to effectively convert business needs into technical solutions. Capable of adapting to change and focusing on positive outcomes. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to influence through data. Aptitude for mentoring and supporting peers. Motivated to embrace new technologies and analysis techniques. Team-oriented, collaborating effectively with a diverse range of colleagues. Preferred knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, and customer experience. The base salary range for this position is $73,300.00-$150,500.00, with actual pay determined by skills, geographical location, and experience.
