Overview The Vice President of IT Engineering and Innovation is a key senior technology executive who will drive the design, development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of IT engineering strategies across the enterprise. You will lead engineering teams focused on delivering critical applications, infrastructure, and integrations that enhance business operations, scalability, and innovation. As VP, you will partner with the CTO, product leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure IT engineering initiatives align with strategic goals, operational efficiency, and security standards. This is an exciting opportunity to influence technology direction and make a significant impact across the organization. Essential Functions Develop and recommend IT engineering strategies for architecture and execution across enterprise systems, infrastructure, and applications, working alongside the CTO to align with product portfolio roadmaps. Champion modernization engineering practices, promoting cloud-first adoption, AI advancements, and automation throughout the organization. Ensure the availability, performance, and security of IT systems that support critical business operations by establishing strong enterprise architecture and engineering principles. Oversee technical design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications, integration, platform development, and ongoing support. Lead the establishment of an AI Center of Enablement with a focus on governance, risk management, and responsible-use frameworks to ensure scalable and secure AI capabilities that align with business objectives. Guide and own engineering delivery capabilities for assigned portfolios, including Retail, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Marketing Technology. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams during all project lifecycle phases, from planning and design through to transition to support. Build and grow a high-performing engineering workforce by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Design and lead automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient software delivery by integrating tools, orchestrating workflows, and enforcing best practices. Provide mentorship and leadership development opportunities that strengthen the future talent pipeline within the organization. Advance AI Engineering best practices and establish a supportive AI Center of Enablement with collaboration from IT SecOps, Risk, and Legal for rigorous governance and coordinated risk management. Develop KPIs and performance metrics to measure engineering efficiency, quality, and value generation. Leverage AI methodologies to modernize and optimize engineering operations and the software development lifecycle, driving improvements in capacity, delivery performance, and product quality. Create and lead a consistent Quality Engineering function to uphold standards, practices, automation, and outcomes across all engineering teams. Assume responsibility for building and leading engineering teams and external partners across a diverse product portfolio. Shape and govern the technology roadmap in collaboration with IT peers, proactively managing technical debt to ensure infrastructure scales with organizational growth. Advocate for compliance with cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory requirements during the design and development processes. Maintain architecture, development, and operational governance standards to ensure consistent implementation across the organization. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements Strategic leader with a proven ability to connect technology initiatives with business goals and measurable outcomes. A minimum of 20 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles. Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale engineering initiatives in complex environments. Expertise in cloud platforms (preferably Azure), DevOps, enterprise architecture, and offshore/managed services. Strong understanding of agile methodologies, SDLC, and IT service management. Able to thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining focus on strategic priorities. Excellent analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities. Proactive initiative-taker who can independently drive complex projects to completion. Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams. Commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes with a strong sense of accountability. Experience mentoring and developing leaders and teams, with a focus on constructive feedback. History of coordinating internal teams and external partners, including technology vendors. Strong communication and facilitation skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
