Position Summary As a Registered Nurse Circulator, you will be instrumental in planning, implementing, and evaluating surgical patient care with precision. Your expertise will contribute to our mission of delivering the highest level of patient care! Position Requirements Licensure in the State of Tennessee is mandatory. A nursing diploma or degree from an accredited institution is required. Availability to respond to the hospital within thirty minutes for on-call duties is vital. Previous surgical experience is essential. BLS certification is expected within 90 days of hire. Workplace Experience: Experience in perioperative care is crucial. Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate adaptability, applying nursing knowledge across various clinical settings is essential. Familiarity with surgical equipment for different specialties is required. Physical Environment: You will be working in a surgical unit catering to a diverse patient population ranging from infants to the elderly. Physical Effort: Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing is required. Capability for prolonged standing and ability to work up to twelve hours a day. Regularly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs. Able to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs. Performance Standards: Conduct thorough assessments of all patients and develop individualized care plans. Anticipate and organize necessary equipment for patient and surgeon needs. Maintain a sterile field and document any corrective actions when necessary. Adhere to established protocols for counts and effectively communicate results. Ensure safe anatomical positioning for patients. Manage and control the OR environment, following sanitation policies rigorously. Safely handle medications and specimens as per established procedures. Prepare the OR for subsequent cases by returning equipment and supplies appropriately. Document patient charges with accuracy. Support staff development by assisting with orientation and training. Demonstrate accountability in communication and timely returns from breaks.
