Join Our Team as a Lead Healthcare Provider! This position is contingent upon award At International Health and Medical Services, we're looking for a dedicated Lead Healthcare Provider to deliver exceptional medical care to diverse populations. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate within a dynamic healthcare team to provide comprehensive care, advocate for patients, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Adhere to the Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreement for Senior Healthcare Providers. Work closely with an integrated healthcare team to manage acute, emergent, and chronic care, while following established policies and accreditation standards. Conduct thorough history and physical evaluations, offer behavioral health services, and perform minor outpatient surgical procedures as needed. Utilize your clinical knowledge to develop treatment plans and prescribe medications suitable for patients of all ages and various healthcare environments. Order and evaluate lab diagnostics, manage prescriptions, and coordinate referrals to specialists, ensuring timely follow-up after hospitalizations or consultations. Participate in court-ordered treatment plans and provide care for patients with mental health issues or in critical situations, such as hunger strikes. Deliver comprehensive, age- and gender-specific healthcare, addressing various needs including those related to gender dysphoria and pregnancy. Consult with physicians and clinical directors for complex medical and psychiatric cases, following established protocols. Provide infirmary care by managing patient admissions, discharges, and daily rounds. Coordinate patients' healthcare needs, including necessary referrals to external specialists. Interpret Tuberculin skin tests and diagnostic studies, and manage Direct Observation Therapy for tuberculosis. Implement infection control measures in line with IHSC policies and guidelines. Follow universal precautions for safety and manage disposal of sharps and infectious waste effectively. Communicate essential health education clearly to detainees, utilizing both verbal and written methods. Support facility accreditation efforts through compliance maintenance and documentation. Participate in credentialing and peer review processes as required. Mentor and assist in the onboarding and training of new Senior Healthcare Providers. Maintain productivity in accordance with facility expectations. Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changes in work schedules and requirements. Promote cultural sensitivity, fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace. Complete mandatory compliance and client-specific education requirements. Be available for rotational on-call duties, which may require returning to the facility for patient care. Availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts is essential. This list outlines primary responsibilities; additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Qualifications: Basic Requirements/Certifications: Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license. Minimum of one year of full-time experience in primary care as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the past five years. Unrestricted DEA license for prescribing controlled medications. Preferred experience in detention, correctional, or residential healthcare settings. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; must be obtained within the first year if not AHA certified. Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited PA program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Must maintain NCCPA certification. Nurse Practitioner: Graduate from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Must maintain board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from an approved body. One year of primary care experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant proficient in women's and pediatric care is required. Attributes and Professional Qualities: Experience effectively interacting with the public for a minimum of one year. Ability to understand and apply written and verbal guidelines effectively. Good judgment, courage, and composure in high-stress situations. Ability to utilize interpreter services for patients with language barriers. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Effective navigation of electronic health records and training systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Document patient care in accordance with policies and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA regulations. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements: Able to walk unaided at a normal pace and maintain balance. Capability to jog or fast walk for distances up to ¼ mile. Physical ability to lift objects weighing over 30 pounds. Capability to perform CPR and emergency care while standing or kneeling. Ability to assist patients during evacuations. Maintain necessary vision, hearing, and smell while performing duties. Physical ability to complete job functions in austere environments. Extended sitting or standing may be required. Basic manual dexterity for computer use. Common use of phones or computers for extended periods. Other Special Qualifications: Must reside in the continental U.S. Successful completion of a medical exam by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to assignment. U.S. citizenship and residency in the U.S. for the past five years is required unless abroad for official U.S. government duty. Successful completion of a thorough background investigation. Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
