Whether a participant’s goal is fitness, confidence, creativity, independence, or connection, Beyond Karate offers a space to grow.Staff AssistantCompany: Beyond KarateLocation: Santa Monica, CASchedule: Part-TimePay: $17.87–$20.00 per hourEmployment Type: W-2Reports To: Program Manager / OwnerAbout the RoleBeyond Karate is seeking dependable, compassionate, and adaptable Staff Assistants to assist across all programs we offer. This is a general support role designed to help instructors, staff, and participants in a variety of settings including martial arts classes, life skills development, tutoring, leadership workshops, enrichment activities, and seasonal camps.Our programs serve children, teens, and adults of all abilities, including individuals with physical, developmental, and learning differences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting structured activities, and contributing to a positive, inclusive community environment.Key Responsibilities but not limited to:Program & Activity SupportAssist instructors and staff across all programs including karate, life skills, tutoring, social circles, leadership workshops, art, cooking, and enrichment activitiesSupport seasonal camp programming by assisting counselors with daily activities, transitions, and supervisionHelp prepare materials, set up spaces, and support smooth transitions between activitiesParticipant Support & SupervisionProvide support and supervision to participants of all ages and abilitiesEncourage positive behavior, participation, and engagementAssist participants as needed while maintaining dignity, respect, and inclusionHelp ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environmentOperations & Team SupportAssist with attendance tracking and participant check-in/check-outSupport classroom, dojo, and camp setup and clean-upFollow all safety, accessibility, and behavior guidelinesCommunicate observations, concerns, or needs to instructors and leadershipParticipate in training, meetings, and program preparation as requiredQualificationsExperience working with youth, adults, or individuals with disabilities is a plus (but not required)Positive attitude, patience, and adaptabilityStrong communication and teamwork skillsReliable, punctual, and professionalCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Background check requireDWhat We OfferInclusive, mission-driven work environmentFlexible part-time schedulingPaid training and ongoing supportOpportunities to grow into instructor or leadership roles
