Position Type: District-Wide Stipend/Other Date Posted: 1/9/2026 Location: Special Education Position: CPI In-District Trainer - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Number of Positions: 2-3 Location: District-wide/PPS Effective Date: The start date shall be based upon the completion of instructor certification. A certified trainer may remain eligible for the position for up to two (2) years, and longer if permitted, contingent upon maintaining required certification and satisfactory performance. Eligible trainers will be appointed on an annual basis. Certification Required: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Instructor Certification (must be obtained upon selection) Certification Details: Initial CPI Instructor Certification consists of: Two (2) hours of online coursework Three (3) full in-person training days Certification is valid for two (2) years Renewal is required every two years and consists of: Online modules One (1) full in-person training day Salary: $75 per hour for delivery of on-site CPI training to staff District-approved travel expenses for certification training will be reimbursed Overnight accommodations will not be reimbursed Ideal Qualifications of a Candidate: Current District employee Strong communication and facilitation skills Ability to effectively train adult learners across varied roles Commitment to student and staff safety Interest in promoting consistent, district-wide crisis prevention practices Job Responsibilities: Deliver CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training to district staff Maintain active CPI Instructor Certification Coordinate training schedules with building and district administration Support consistent implementation of CPI practices across buildings Other duties related to CPI training as assigned Training information is attached (bottom right of screen): Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training, 3rd Edition Upcoming Training Locations: Feb. 03-05 - Buffalo, NY Feb. 17-19 - South Plainfield, NJ Feb. 17-19 - Windsor Locks, CT Feb. 24-26 - Binghamton, NY Mar. 03-05 - Rutherford, NJ Mar. 24-26 - Orange, CT Mar. 31-02 - Atlantic City, NJ Apr. 14-16 - New York, NY Apr. 28-30 - Somerset, NJ Apr. 28-30 - Melville, NY May 05-07 - East Syracuse, NY May 12-14 - New York, NY Attachment(s): Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training, 3rd Edition
