This 11-week summer internship is designed for senior undergraduate, Master's, or PhD students seeking exposure to a professional, corporate environment. The internship is project-based, with each intern assigned one clearly defined project aligned to the hosting department's priorities. The role emphasizes learning, skill development, and practical application of academic knowledge while contributing to meaningful work. Project Scope: The Environmental Health and Safety Intern would be responsible for establishment of a management program for response to updated EPA Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) regulations regarding Formaldehyde, n-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP), and 1-4 Dioxane. This will include at least the following: Identification of departments which utilize these chemicals. Review of the regulatory changes and regulatory framework which makes the basis of this management program. Development of a written exposure control plan utilizing templates provided by EHS. Conducting a limited Industrial Hygiene exposure assessment including air monitoring for these chemicals based on operational use at Incyte Development of written report of the air monitoring along with associated conclusions and recommended exposure control strategies. This work will have oversight/supervision from EHS personnel including a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). In addition to the project above, additional duties of the intern will likely include: Participate in regularly scheduled lab and environmental inspections. Assist with reviews of equipment specific lockout procedures. Assist with Updates to Veeva CBT (Computer based Training). Assist with Development of a CBT (Computer based Training) PPE requirements for Researchers. Assist with leak detection survey of X-Ray producing devices. Assist with development of Chemical Hygiene Plan related SOPs for the Global Biopharm Development and Process Chemistry Departments. Participate in Sustainability Initiatives related to laboratory energy usage and recycling lab plastics.
