Hire-Ability is the award winning vocational services program of RAMS, in partnership with San Francisco Department of Public Health-Community Behavioral Health Services, California State Department of Rehabilitation, and other private businesses, which serves the San Francisco Bay Area community by connecting employers with trained, assessed, and pre-qualified employees. Hire-Ability provides quality & culturally competent vocational rehabilitation, training, and support services to adults with behavioral health conditions and/or mental health disabilities. Program services include: Vocational Assessment; Basic Job Skills Training; On-the-Job Training; Work Adjustment; Situational Assessment; Job Development; Placement & Retention; and Job Coaching. The Hire-Ability program components include: Employee Development, Employment Services, Vocational IT Computer Skills Training, Janitorial Training, Employment, & Services, and Clerical/Administrative Support Training, Employment, & Services. Hire-Ability also features Café Phoenix, a reputable and well-reviewed client-run café that also serves as one of the on-the-job vocational assessment sites. Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS) is currently searching for a Janitor - Per Diem for the RAMS Hire-Ability Vocational Services Program. Work site: SF DPH Community Behavioral Health Services at 1380 Howard St &/or DPH Clinic location Status: Per Diem (various shifts, depending on need/availability) THIS POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO CONSUMERS/PARTICIPANTS OF THESF DPH - COMMUNITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES The Janitor is responsible for basic janitorial duties as well as maintenance and upkeep of Department of Public Health facilities. Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs basic janitorial duties as assigned. Make use of safe work procedures at work sites, use proper janitorial and protective equipment.. Responsible for of janitorial equipment and supplies assigned Reports any facility problems to Site Supervisor or Program Supervisor. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms/legs & moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials & equipment, and manipulating things. Performs responsibilities and complete projects under tight deadlines and changes in assignments. Pro-actively searches out &identifies tasks and facility-related needs. Wears proper Janitorial uniform, and serves as model of professional standards. Promptly communicates, shares information, and responds in a timely manner. Performs work in accordance to policies & procedures. Maintains and submits accurate records, timesheets, and documentation as required Participate in staff meetings, trainings, committees, and other staff development activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Required Qualifications: At least 1 year janitorial experience or successful completion of a janitorial training program Ability to follow directions, prioritize, multitask, and perform & complete duties with minimal supervision, both independently and as part of a team Ability to do the following at varying frequencies depending on assignment: lift & carry up to 50lbs; physically lift, push, pull, or carry objects; to use abdominal & lower back muscles to continuously support part of the body; to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, &/or legs. Other Preferred Qualifications: Average communication & organization skills Ability to organize and/or work effectively with diverse program staff, coworkers, and mental health consumers Average reading and writing skills with the ability to understand and interpret written instructions, and effectively communicate to program staff, program partners, vendors, and mental health consumers Ability to communicate, present, and receive feedback in a positive and constructive manner Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times Is flexible with scheduling and able to work on days, evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed and scheduled Strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, & mission of RAMS in providing community-based, culturally competent, and consumer-guided mental health services to the community Commitment to engaging in professional development activities such as trainings, seminars, and reviewing up-to-date material, etc. Average interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively, function independently, and interact professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff of all levels
