Salary: $16.75 - $18.75 Hourly Location : Elgin, IL Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 20260220-01 Department: Parks and Recreation Opening Date: 02/20/2026 Closing Date: 4/5/2026 11:59 PM Central POSITION OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Early Childhood Supervisor of the Parks and Recreation Department. This part-time position will be held accountable for the supervision and safety of program participants. In addition, this position requires participation in sports, arts and crafts, and all other assigned activities in an outdoor environment. The Drop In Playground Program is a program held in the neighborhood parks in Elgin. Children are encouraged to drop-in when they need something new and exciting to fill their time. This program is held Monday-Friday 10 am to 3 pm. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible to the Program Coordinator and the Early Childhood Supervisor Responsible for planning and implementing various sports, arts and crafts, and other assigned activities as well as participation in the activities at a specified park within the City of Elgin. Responsible for the safety of all participants during the scheduled hours. Responsible for completing and submitting accident and incident reports in a timely manner. Responsible for coming up with daily activities and requesting supplies as needed for upcoming projects. Responsible for taking daily attendance and ensuring all participants have emergency cards on file. Responsible for distributing lunches for the Summer Lunch Program and filling out all required paperwork for the program. Will be required to work 10am to 3pm, Monday-Friday. Vacation time is discouraged during the program days. Responsible for supervising 1-2 staff. Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing including provided staff shirt. Responsible for following and implementing the approved discipline policy. Responsible for being certified in CPR and first aid and being able to administer firstaid when necessary. Training will be provided. Must be courteous and polite to families and children. Must be available for training prior to program start date. Must be able to work in an outdoor environment all summer. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESExperience working with children in teaching or coaching setting preferred Energetic and enthusiastic individual CPR and AED Certification (provided) Child and Adult Care Food Program Training (provided) Ability to work well with others Ability to plan, implement, and participate in a wide range of activities Ability to supervise children ages 6-12 years old MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 18 years old High School Diploma or GED required, college credits a plus. Hours: 25 hours per week from June 3rd - August 2nd.
