For those aiming for the GL-7 level, applicants should have one year of specialized law enforcement experience or a relevant bachelor's degree demonstrating superior academic achievement. Additional Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must meet residency requirements. Must be under the age of 40 at the time of selection unless exempt due to previous service. Must successfully complete a six-month training program at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico.
