Highway Construction Inspector

What you'll be doing: Conducting thorough inspections to ensure adherence to contract documents, standards, and specifications. Testing construction materials, analyzing engineering data, and performing site surveys with precision. Maintaining detailed daily records of project activities and adeptly troubleshooting any construction challenges. Monitoring contractor operations to guarantee compliance with established specifications. Accurately documenting pay records and performing essential construction calculations. Identifying potential contractual issues and proactively recommending adjustments to enhance safety and quality. Ensuring compliance with local environmental regulations regarding sedimentation and pollution control. Collaborating with contractors, utility owners, and property stakeholders to minimize disruptions and enhance project efficiency. What you need to have: An Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field. 0 to 2 years of progressive inspection experience or a combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license. The physical capability to perform tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary. A strong commitment to prioritizing safety practices in all operations. Safety toe shoes are required for this role. The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of surveying techniques and responsibilities. Excellent communication skills for conveying information clearly and effectively. Able to work safely in outdoor environments, including recognizing construction site hazards. Experience in maintaining accurate records and reports.
