American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Acute Dialysis position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, with on-call responsibilities and floating between two campuses. Job Details • Acute care dialysis unit within a hospital setting, including the acute hemodialysis suite and ICU, • Patient population includes ESRD and acute renal failure; case types include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 2:1 in the acute suite and 1:1 in the ICU, • Patients in the acute suite are monitored by telemetry with monitor techs reading strips; ICU patients have bedside and central monitoring, • Charting is done in MEDITECH, • 12-hour shifts with rotating 7am and 11am start times, • Every other Saturday required (maximum weekend requirement), • On-call required one night per week and every other Sunday (maximum), • First to float between two campuses approximately 16 minutes apart, as needed, • 12-week assignment, Job Requirements • Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) license; must be active at time of consideration - pending licenses not accepted, • Required certifications (all AHA-issued, active, non-pending): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, • Minimum 2 years of acute care dialysis nursing experience required, • Proficiency in AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC access required, • Experience with recognition and management of hemodialysis complications and emergencies required, • Peritoneal dialysis experience required, including site care, catheter care, and initiation/termination of treatments, • Ability to titrate Heparin drips required, • BSN not required, • Two professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Copy of driver's license required for consideration, Additional Information • Responsibilities include providing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis care in both the acute suite and ICU settings, • May be asked to precept staff as needed by the unit, • Set-rate drips used on this unit include amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, and milrinone; ventilators, HiFlow, CPAP, and BiPap are used in the ICU only in collaboration with ICU RN and RT staff, • Orientation consists of one shift of general paperwork followed by at least one shift of on-unit orientation, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Holiday coverage is rotated in with core staff, • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered, • Reliability is strongly expected - call-outs are taken seriously and may result in termination, • Local candidates are accepted for this position,
