DescriptionDescription We are a growing fabrication shop seeking a skilled Material Handler to manage the movement, organization, and preparation of steel and materials throughout our facility. This position is critical to keeping our welders productive and our shop running efficiently. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and experienced with material handling equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and switcher truck to move steel, materials, and finished products throughout the shop and yard Load and unload deliveries and outgoing shipments Spot and move trailers using switcher truck Organize and maintain material inventory in shop and yard storage areas Perform basic cutting operations (saw, torch, plasma) as needed Surface preparation including grinding, cleaning, and deburring Sort and stage materials for production Assist welders and fabricators with material positioning and fit-up as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas Follow all safety protocols and procedures RequirementsRequired Qualifications Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain immediately) Overhead crane operating experience Previous experience in a fabrication, steel service center, or industrial manufacturing environment Ability to read tape measures and basic blueprints/cut lists Strong understanding of rigging and safe lifting practices Physically capable of working in a fabrication environment (standing, lifting, bending) Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Preferred Qualifications Switcher truck or yard truck experience CDL (Class A or B) preferred but not required Experience with plasma or oxy-fuel cutting Basic welding knowledge Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
