Zen-Noh Grain Corporation (ZGC) was formed in 1979 to accomplish the goal of establishing a safe and stable supply of U.S. corn, milo, soybeans, and other U.S. food supplies. ZGC is a U.S. subsidiary of ZEN-NOH, the largest agricultural cooperative association in Japan. We operate a grain and oilseed export terminal in Convent, Louisiana, which is the highest-handle grain export terminal in the U.S. In recent years, we have expanded our grain origination and export footprint with joint ventures in Brazil, Canada and Hong Kong. In addition to grain trading, we operate a forage processing and export business headquartered in Washington. This job is primarily responsible for managing and directing the Safety Coordinators, coaching the line organization staff (all roles) on the effective use of safety systems so these systems enable and facilitate the desired distinctive behaviors to achieve Safe Operations. In this job, you will: Identify coaching opportunities with regional and facility management; meet with and coach facility staff during site visits, assess assigned safety staff locations to determine priority for safety attention. Identify opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill of the line organization and improve safety systems to positively impact operations, develop consistency for safety across business units and regions; implement approved recommendations. Provide second level closure on incidents in RCI that do not directly impact facility operations. Develop and direct Safety Coordinators responsibilities, assuring they have the resources needed to complete their job in an effective manner. Work in the field with and provide coaching as needed to the Safety Coordinators. Work with Safety Coordinator (or applicable staff) in proper management of first aid injuries, review accident alerts, leads/assists with accident investigation when necessary, and follow-up with regional management and Safety Coordinator (or applicable staff) to ensure corrective actions are effective and have been accomplished. Attend and participate in operation planning/training sessions; includes researching, recommending, presenting on any selected options for safety-related impacts. Communicate frequently with applicable parties (e.g. Region Management, including the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, Group Managers and Terminal Operations Managers); to include coaching and keeping management aware of problems in the field. Provide OSHA 300 and 300A forms to all locations. Approve top bin entry requests for their respective regions when the Safety Director is unavailable. Assist the Safety Director with the implementation of CGB's safety process. Fill in for the Safety Director as needed. Research new projects that will make the operation's job safe or improve the safety process. Visit medical facilities for new sites and set expectation with doctors. Provide Safety staff with overview reports at the end of audit season. Assist in hiring process of new safety staff, trainees and interns. Other duties as assigned. Here's what you'll need to be considered: Education Required - Degree in Safety or equivalent education and training. Preferred - Master's Degree in Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene. Experience Required - 3 years' safety experience; including experience in people management and training. License/Certification Required - Valid driver's license and ability to meet company auto insurance requirements (along with any age restrictions due to the company auto insurance). Preferred - ASP or GSP, or working towards one of these certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of auditing. Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Good presentation skills. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent coaching, mentoring, and team building skills. Here's additional information you need to know: Physical Demands & Requirements Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop and kneel, occasionally. Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously. Ability to sit continuously while safely operating a motor vehicle. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Environmental Conditions The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment as well as outside in heat/cold, wet/humid/ and dry/arid conditions. Frequent travel required; up to 50%, including overnight travel (travel may be dependent on division supported). The expected base pay range for this role is: $100,327.00 - $131,310.00 Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job.
