Position Summary The Senior Product Owner for Refining Control Technology plays a vital role in collaborating with Operational Technology (OT) engineers, architects, product managers, cybersecurity specialists, vendors, and technologists to enhance OT capabilities across MPC's refining operations. This position serves as a crucial link between OT and business leaders, shaping the roadmap for our Control Technology Product Team to ensure safe, reliable, and secure process control. Utilizing innovative design thinking methodologies such as user stories and prototyping, you will define key features, manage the team backlog, and guide workflow to maintain a sustainable enterprise environment. As a central collaborator among product teams, solution architects, technical experts, business associates, and vendors, you will drive value delivery through a scaled agile framework. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of customer and internal-facing products aimed at delivering exceptional user experiences, whether for an established or moderately complex product. Align teamwork to prioritize product roadmaps, plan releases, and ensure efforts resonate with overarching business goals. Proactively address challenges throughout the product development lifecycle by closely working with Agile teams, stakeholders, and business representatives. Collaborate with R&D, UX, and business operations to unify product strategies, gather insights, and schedule releases. Identify product issues, make informed decisions, and conduct trade-off analyses to maintain development momentum toward meeting commitments. Prioritize short-term feature backlogs and releases while strategically planning the long-term product roadmap. Engage in customer research and product discovery, translating market insights into a comprehensive product strategy. Connect with customers to understand their challenges and identify new enhancement opportunities. Analyze quantitative data to assess the feasibility of product initiatives. Create and maintain epics and user stories that represent customer and stakeholder needs aligned with business objectives. Manage centralized OT hardware and software licensing. Facilitate OT Lead meetings across all plants to encourage collaboration and synergy. Engage with the Refining Agile Release Train (ART) to exchange ideas with other MPC product teams, including Midstream OT and Cyber & Infrastructure (CI). Build and nurture strong relationships with the Control Technology Product Manager and Refining Technology leaders to architect a robust product roadmap for secure OT operations across refining. Support the Product Team in setting OKRs, tracking milestones, and providing regular updates on the product portfolio. Assist in Financial Forecasting & Budget Workshops for the Product Team. Create and occasionally lead the preparation of product presentations for business leadership. Work collaboratively with Agile, business, and OT teams to synchronize product goals, manage backlogs, plan releases, and uphold strategic roadmaps using Azure Dev Ops (ADO). Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of relevant experience as a Product Owner required. Product Owner certification is preferred. Experience in leading OT projects is preferred. Experience working across IT and OT domains is beneficial, with an understanding of enterprise systems, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and industrial control systems. Familiarity with Refining Control System (DCS) capabilities is preferred. Skills Agile Methodology: Proficient in iterative project management techniques for effective project delivery. Backlog Management: Skilled in maintaining a prioritized list of tasks derived from the product roadmap. Business Acumen: Ability to align decisions with MPC's strategic goals through industry knowledge. Decision Making: Proficient in making quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Industry Product Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of industry products and their applications. Product Development: Experienced in creating and enhancing products to fulfill end-user needs. Product Lifecycle Management: Knowledgeable in managing the various stages of a product's life cycle. User Experience (UX): Dedicated to providing a seamless and delightful user interaction with products. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field; 5+ years of relevant experience.
