We are seeking an experienced and committed physician to fill a Locum position in Christiansburg, VA. This role offers the chance to deliver exceptional obstetric care, support a dedicated team, and enjoy competitive compensation-all while making a positive impact on patients' lives. In this position, you will be responsible for managing emergent gynecological cases and supporting labor and delivery services within a busy hospital environment. You will work alongside a skilled team including other OBs, general surgeons, and emergency physicians, with backup support available from MFM specialists (onsite but not physically present), in-house anesthesia 24/7, and collaboration with hospitalist colleagues. The hospital averages 72 deliveries per month, with a current model of one in-house Laborist, private practitioners, and a total system that handles approximately 600 assigned and 40 unassigned obstetric patients. The facility does not have a NICU onsite; however, the primary hospital's Level 3B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides comprehensive neonatal services. This role is primarily emergent gyn coverage with minimal scheduled duties. Required Skills: Active and unrestricted medical license in Virginia or willingness to obtain Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology Proven experience in obstetric emergencies and labor management Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Strong communication and decision-making skills Nice to Have Skills: Previous experience in hospitalist or locum tenens roles Familiarity with Level 3B NICU protocols Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume delivery environment Bilingual proficiency is a plus Preferred Education and Experience: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 2+ years of obstetric practice, preferably in hospital settings Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications Other Requirements: Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care Willingness to travel to the assignment location Valid state medical licenses and DEA registration as needed Ability to adapt to hospital policies and protocols This is an excellent opportunity to earn a competitive hourly rate of $214.50 while enjoying flexible scheduling, comprehensive benefits, weekly pay via direct deposit, and a supportive environment dedicated to your professional success.
