Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE: This position ensures a safe and secure shopping environment while providing a friendly presence at store entrances and exits. The Specialist actively engages with customers, deterring theft and fraud through a visible command presence in a company-issued vest. This includes monitoring safety and security policies, inspecting packages per the Code 50 policy, and collaborating with store leadership to reduce operational shortages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment: Prioritizes safety in all actions, promoting a secure environment for associates and customers. Greets customers with a smile, maintaining a visible presence at entrances/exits and throughout the store. Ensures clear emergency exits by removing clutter and addressing potential hazards. Developing Great Teams & Partnerships: Provides exceptional customer service by engaging customers warmly and addressing inquiries courteously. Treats all individuals with respect, demonstrating professionalism and promoting a positive atmosphere. Participates in team meetings and collaborates with both internal and external partners. Assists in training staff on loss prevention strategies and recognizes their achievements through company programs. Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Observes store activities for suspicious behaviors and communicates concerns effectively to store leadership. Utilizes internal and external intelligence to understand theft patterns and takes proactive measures. Adheres to company policies regarding theft response and best practices. Minimizing Operational Shortage: Encourages store awareness for processes aimed at reducing operational shortage. Monitors and validates checkout procedures from both associates and customers. COMPETENCIES: Work Process Management Business Acumen Planning & Prioritizing Talent Development Collaboration Leading by Example Effective Communication Accountability & Execution QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; AA degree preferred. One year of retail supervisory experience or relevant training is preferred. Loss prevention or security training experience is a plus. Active Security Guard License is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong communication skills. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team. Excellent customer service skills, with conflict resolution capabilities. Compliance with applicable laws for security roles, including background checks and drug testing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA: Regular attendance and punctuality are required. Ability to spend the majority of the time standing, walking, and moving around the store. Must be able to lift or lower objects over 25 lbs as needed. Ability to bend, stoop, or crouch as necessary for daily operations.
