Regional Travel Required Senior Field Technician Job Description: We are seeking an experienced telecommunications professional to take on a pivotal role in the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of telecommunications infrastructure in environments such as Central Offices and data centers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead complex projects, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high standards of safety and quality are met. Core Responsibilities Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and support Level 1 and 2 technicians, ensuring they perform installations and decommissioning with precision. Technical Oversight: Manage all aspects of site preparation, material handling, installation, dismantling, and restoration. Complex Installations: Execute and oversee intricate installations involving hardware, software, power, and fiber optic cables. Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct optical and network testing with tools such as OTDR and BER testers; independently resolve technical issues. Project Management: Handle logistics, monitor job costs, and ensure projects are completed on time. Technical Documentation: Skillfully read and apply technical documents, including floor plans and installation standards like Telcordia GR-1275. Site Coordination: Lead site teams and collaborate with project stakeholders as the primary Site Team Leader. Key Skills & Knowledge: Telcordia GR-1275 Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the Telcordia GR-1275 standard for installation and quality. Telecommunications Equipment: Experience with equipment such as DWDM, Cisco, Ciena, and Infinera. Power and Fiber Optics: Strong understanding of -48V power principles and fiber testing techniques. Tools and Equipment: Proficient in using both hand and power tools, including specialized test equipment. Safety: Commitment to safety through daily Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and best practices around live equipment. Professionalism: Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a focus on problem-solving and quality work. Work Environment: Extensive Travel: This role includes significant travel and requires adaptability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights. Physical Demands: The position involves demanding physical labor, including lifting equipment, and working in diverse weather conditions.
