Position Type: Support Staff/Mechanic Date Posted: 9/2/2025 Location: Bellefonte Area High School The Bellefonte Area School District is accepting applications for the Mechanic position Location: Bellefonte Area High School Work Day: 6:30am-3:00pm (Monday - Friday); One-half hour unpaid lunch Work Year: 245 days; 15 paid holidays Pay & Benefits See attached document (below) for information about pay & benefits Pay Level: G Position Overview The Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all district vehicles and mechanical equipment. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining transportation readiness, supporting building systems, and contributing to the overall safety and functionality of district operations. Key Responsibilities The District Mechanic will: Diagnose and repair district vehicles, tractors, mowers, and other mechanical equipment Perform moderate body repairs including patching, sanding, welding, and part replacement Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment Establish and manage systems for routine maintenance and preventive care (e.g., inspections, oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks) Oversee fueling and cleaning of district vans and trucks Promote safety and good housekeeping practices in all work areas Manage vehicle and key security protocols Assist with building and equipment repairs, including welding, brazing, and soldering Perform snow removal duties across the district Support scheduling and preparation of vehicles for field trips and district events Conduct preventative maintenance on district building systems Use computer systems to manage work orders and maintenance records Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Maintenance, Director of Physical Plant, or Director of Fiscal Affairs Education RequirementsMinimum: High School Diploma Preferred: Post-secondary vocational training or extensive experience in engine repair, body work, and welding Experience RequirementsRequired: 2 years in automotive repair Preferred: Other experience operating and maintaining vehicles, snow removal equipment, grounds care tools, and custodial machinery Certifications & LicensesRequired: Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean driving record Must possess all required background clearances Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic Preferred: EPA 609 Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Certification Application Requirements External Applicants Please submit the following documents with your online application: Current employment clearances (dated within the past 5 years): Act 34 - Criminal History Act 114 - FBI Fingerprint Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Copies of degree certificates and transcripts Act 168 paperwork, Physical exam results, TB test results (required upon hire) Clearances must be for employment purposes.
