Inside Machinist (Non Local)

Genesis Industrial Staffing is actively hiring expert-level Inside Machinists for long-term shop work in Norfolk, VA. This role is for seasoned professionals who can independently manufacture or modify complex components while holding tight tolerances and meeting finish requirements the first time. Per diem will be paid as well as travel pay. Key Responsibilities Independently manufacture complex parts from stock or modify existing components in strict accordance with drawings and specifications Perform complete setup, operation, and troubleshooting of: Manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.) CNC machines (mills and lathes), including programming Select proper tooling, attachments, and accessories for each job Design and manufacture fixtures to securely hold workpieces Machine parts to close tolerances while meeting surface finish requirements Apply expert knowledge of feeds, speeds, and machining characteristics for a wide range of materials Accurately inspect and verify work using precision measuring instruments Record measurements and inspection results accurately and consistently Read, interpret, and execute work from complex blueprints, drawings, manuals, and technical documentation Skills & Experience Expert-level proficiency with: Manual lathes, mills, grinders, saws CNC lathes and mills (setup, programming, operation) Precision measurement tools including: OD & ID micrometers Height gauges, depth gauges Calipers, verniers Layout and marking tools Advanced blueprint reading and dimensional layout Ability to mark reference points and dimensions directly on material Qualifications Minimum 6 years of inside machinist experience Proven ability to work independently without supervision Demonstrated experience machining complex components to tight tolerances Strong attention to detail and commitment to "right-the-first-time" quality Professional, reliable, and safety-focused work ethic Required Certifications & Screening OSHA 10 Certification Current respirator clearance Ability to pass: Pre-employment physical Background check Drug screen Compensation & Benefits $32-$40 per hour (based on experience) $150 per day per diem - paid 7 days/week Travel pay provided (to and from job site) Why Apply This is a top-tier opportunity for expert machinists looking for: Long-term, stable work in a highly competitive market Above-market pay Strong per diem Travel compensation Long-term stability Respect for true craftsmanship Genesis Staffing provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
