Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift Location: Des Plaines, IL Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients during the night shift, delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based treatments in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to function independently in a fast-paced clinical environment. Shift & Schedule Details Shift Length: 12-hour shifts Shift Type: Night Shift Shift Time: 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM Shifts per Week: 3 Total Weekly Hours: 36 hours Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday Scheduling Flexibility: Required Block Schedules: Not permitted Key Responsibilities Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation and non-invasive respiratory support Perform ABGs and interpret results as required Respond to emergencies, including rapid responses and code situations Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and equipment use Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards Qualifications & Requirements Active Respiratory Therapist license (Illinois or compact, as applicable) BLS certification required Acute care or hospital experience preferred Strong clinical judgment and communication skills Ability to work nights and a rotating schedule
