Hiring: Construction Project ManagerAbout the Construction Project Manager PositionFull-timeExemptDeadline: RollingAbout the RoleThe Construction Project Manager (CPM) is a key member of Buffalo Neighborhood Services Corporation (BNSC)’s affordable housing and community development team. This role is responsible for managing residential and commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and funding requirements.BNSC’s construction portfolio includes small residential rehabilitations, new construction, first-time homeownership developments, mixed-use projects, and workforce training facilities, with an emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, and passive housing construction concepts.What You’ll Do Serve as the primary construction point of contact for projects, representing BNSC/PUSH with general contractors, lenders, funders, investors, and project partners. Attend and actively participate in regular construction meetings, conduct routine site visits, and monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance. Coordinate and oversee the work of general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, development consultants, attorneys, and other project professionals. Review and monitor construction schedules, scopes of work, budgets, change orders, and payment applications. Work with consultants and internal teams to track project budgets, prepare budget reports, and identify cost or schedule risks. Collaborate with the Finance Team (and other appropriate teams) to prepare and submit funding requisitions, Purchase orders, etc. Prepare and submit construction and compliance reporting to project funders, including but not limited to the City of Buffalo, NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), NYS OTDA, and other public and private funding entities. Assist with preparation of materials for construction financing, closings, and permanent financing applications. Engage project neighbors and community partners regarding construction schedules, impacts, and site-related concerns. Who We’re Looking ForThis role is best suited for someone who is: Highly organized and detail-oriented; Comfortable holding contractors accountable; Proactive in identifying problems before they escalate; Mission-aligned and community-focused; Able to balance technical expertise with relationship management Master’s degree in a related field such as Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Law; OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in construction, architecture, engineering, housing development, or construction-related project management; OR High School Diploma or equivalent with five (5) or more years of hands-on construction experience, including pre-development, construction, and project closeout. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction plans, and specifications. Experience supporting or managing construction projects, preferably in affordable housing or publicly funded environments. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. This position requires residency in greater Buffalo area, with ability to commute to site(s) daily.
