ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities Travel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, inside/outside upkeep and complete monthly vehicle inspection reports) Perform routine field tests or inspections Inspect, assess and determine weld quality meets the acceptable criteria of a specific code or other specifications and safety regulations Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications and material specifications Prepare reports with detailed documentation of inspections, testing and findings including any defects or discrepancies Read maps, blueprints, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans Complete structural concrete and reinforcing code and job specification compliance Understand structural masonry code and job specification compliance Determine pre-stressed and post tension concrete tendons, reinforcing code and job specification compliance Perform inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, steel and/or wood framing Determine spray-applied fireproofing code and job specification compliance Document accurate and detailed field activity/inspections and report findings/diagrams to the clients and supervisors Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers verbally and electronically Complete and prepare accurate and detailed field-testing reports on a daily basis Follow all company safety procedures and policies Other tasks as assigned Qualifications #LI-R QualificationsRequired: Master Special Inspector (MSI) or has ICC Reinforced Concrete & Masonry certification Post Tensioning experience. High School diploma or equivalent Must be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record 2 years of prior field and/or inspections experience Ability to read and interpret construction documents Ability to calculate results from construction inspections Ability to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figures Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memos Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer Preferred: AAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or related degree #Master Special Inspector certification, #ICC# Masonry, #Soils, #Spray-Applied Fireproofing, #Post-Tension, #Concrete, #EIT, #Engineer-in-Training, #Special Inspector, #Welding Inspector 1 Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentPhysical Demands & Work Environment This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including: Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris. Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments. Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions. The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to: Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion. Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods. Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment. Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections. Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
