Mortgage Underwriter

Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Underwriter who will be responsible for reviewing all mortgage loan applications to ensure completeness and compliance with secondary and/or portfolio lending guidelines and policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Loan File Management • Approve loans and make recommendations for loan approval up to established limits. • Within department timelines, review loan files for accuracy, completeness and compliance. • Review all denied loans for possible lending options to benefit the Member. • Educate staff on changes to loan requirements. • Identify cross sell opportunities that will benefit the Members and RCU. • Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive Member financial information. • Recognize and evaluate the loan process and recommend changes that will help maintain maximum efficiency. • Review and maintain all product guidelines to ensure accuracy with changes in the industry and changes in RCU loan policies. • Audit first mortgage loan files to ensure completeness prior to funding. • Develop operational and procedural changes necessary to address any issues or problems noted in quality control reports.
