Maintenance Assistant

LOCATION: 2855 Gramercy St. Houston, TX 77025 POSITION SUMMARY:Contributes to the organization by assisting with the general maintenance of the building. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Change light bulbs and replace damaged ballast. Adjust and check the climate for everyday weather. Move furniture around and take extra items to outside storage, as well as file boxes and put them in order. Check restrooms throughout the day. Repair or replace any leaks on faucets and toilets to prevent water waste. Unclog drains. Repair furniture, retouching, or replacing any worn-out carpet. Distribute copy paper and computer paper to different areas, as well as refilling sanitary dispensers and taking supplies to all pods. Repair walls and paint offices, parking lot handicap signs, spaces, and curbs. Repairing outside mercury ground lights. Replacing ceiling tile, covering equipment when raining due to leaks in the building. Set up the lecture room and boardroom for meetings held at HEA. Pick up food and drinks or any other items needed for the meeting. Ensure daily housekeeping services are up to standard, reporting any complaints to the manager. Deliver furniture or equipment to the satellite offices. Repair damaged carpet or flooring. Install new light fixtures, switches, and outlets. Always ready to respond appropriately to emergencies. (Deliver mail for immediate posting. Security alerts. Power failures or any other potential disasters.) Replace and adjust doorknobs and door closers. Prepared to respond to building maintenance needs throughout the day. Minor equipment repairs at Gramercy and satellite offices. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands/Work Environment: No exposure to communicable disease Classified as having no occupational exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Must be able to push, pull, bend, twist, and reach. Use care and proper judgment when lifting or carrying items, ensuring to utilize proper posture and body mechanics. Even though the weight lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: N/A EXPERIENCE: Basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, and carpentry.
