Salary: $29.88 - $40.32 Hourly Location : Chesterfield, VA Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 26-00559 Department: Mental Health Support Services Opening Date: 02/16/2026 Closing Date: 3/15/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Minimum QualificationsWho We Are: Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinician to provide clinical services for our Residential Program! Minimum Education and Experience: Master's degree in human services or related field; one year of experience related to assigned program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree in psychology preferred. Experience writing behavioral plans for individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic supports and/or treatment techniques; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment; computer proficiency skills; working knowledge of electronic health record systems. Additional Requirements: Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: • Conducts on-site functional evaluation and assessment of consumers adaptive functioning at home, in the community and during day program activities; • Creates behavioral plans/programs for individuals living in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF)/Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IID) to be implemented by staff; • Provides training to staff in behavioral and clinical areas, including implementation of behavioral plans; • Completes documentation in a timely manner in the electronic health record; • Provides counseling to individuals served, families, and groups as needed; • Stays up to date with current and new research and clinical best practices; • Collaborates within an interdisciplinary team setting to ensure excellence in customer care; and • Performs other work as required. This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
