Now Hiring: Tool Maker - Maintenance Department About the Role We're looking for a skilled Tool Maker to join our Maintenance team. This role is hands-on, technical, and essential to keeping our fabrication, extrusion, and coating operations running at peak performance. You'll build, repair, and maintain tooling and mechanical components using both manual and CNC equipment while upholding high safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Build, repair, and modify parts, dies, and tooling using manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, presses). Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical systems, including gearboxes, pumps, and fabrication equipment. Fabricate and repair fixtures, tooling, and prototype components from prints or specifications. Perform welding and cutting operations (arc, MIG, TIG, plasma, oxy-acetylene, silver soldering). Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to plan machining and fabrication steps. Verify part dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, indicators). Conduct repairs and maintenance on fabrication equipment such as punch presses, brake presses, mills, and lathes. Select appropriate metals and materials based on hardness, heat tolerance, and application requirements. Conduct test runs and make adjustments to ensure tooling and dies meet performance and quality specifications. Qualifications Required: Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of tool and die making, machining, or fabrication experience. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency with hand and power tools; must supply own tools. Ability to perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and other instruments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings. Strong math skills (fractions, geometry, algebra, conversions). Basic computer skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred: Experience with MIG, TIG, arc welding, plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene torch work. Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working Conditions Manufacturing environment without climate control; may involve high temperatures. Exposure to substances associated with extrusion, paint, and fabrication processes. Mandatory overtime may be required. Work may involve tight deadlines and high-pressure situations. Must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
