Overview The Building Services Manager will play an integral role in supporting senior departmental leadership with directing and leading all aspects of the operational needs within the department. The Manager will coordinate the daily tasks of the front line staff and any special projects as needed The Manager will serve as liaison between administration and hospital departments to deliver the highest possible level of service. Responsibilities Direct, supervise and administer the Building Services program to maintain BHMC premises in a clean, orderly, safe, and environmentally sound manner. Establishes and oversees standards, work methods, and schedules with consideration of the operation, patients, visitors, staff, and regulatory agencies. Inspects work of subordinates to ensure cleanliness standards efficiently maintained. Contributes to and supports the performance improvement of Building Services with new cleaning methods, equipment and supply ideas and/or revisions. Responsible for maintenance of Building Services standards of infection prevention and control. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with administrative, and support staff including union representatives. Formulate plans for and directs training programs for subordinate employees. Assists in the preparation of annual employee evaluations and competency assessments. Counsels and interviews employees. Documents and maintains records for communication, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement. Keeps logs of all findings on daily rounds. Utilizes EPIC and Rover App for timely bed discharge turnaround cleaning. Start and close out overlapping shift for seamless 24-hour departmental Building Services. Distributes cleaning supplies, equipment and maintains satellite supply locations for efficiency. Dispatch and closes out work assignments and work orders. Follow up on request on concerns from faculty and staff regarding hospital environment. Attend joint rounds and meetings for area of coverage and report summary of findings and outcomes. Visits 24 hour admission patients and follow scripting to explain the scope of expectations for cleaning. Other task as assigned. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience: Minimum six (6) months as a Senior Housekeeper required. Minimum three (3) years experience managing Environmental Services in a healthcare setting required. Knowledge and Skills: Strong technical knowledge of the area being managed, often serves as the subject matter expert. Ability to multitask essential to establish goals, set priorities, oversee the day-to-day activities, prepare and deliver performance reviews, operate in a project manager role as needed, coach others, ensure quality of results and output. Highly experienced managers often develop policies and procedures for a new operation or where gaps are evident and assist in setting strategy for the department. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Ability to be decisive based on prior experience, precedent or interpretation of regulations/policy. Physical Requirements: Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
