Learn more at and join us in transforming our members, our communities, our city! POSITION SUMMARY The Youth Development Specialist is primarily responsible for coverage support for clubs. The major responsibility of this role is to deliver quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events. This position has specific programming and operational responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES As directed, responsible for the delivery of remote and in-person learning support for BGCB members, BGCB core programs, and activities. Provide supervision and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate. Participate in collaborative programs and events with staff from other clubhouse departments as well as staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations. Maintain safe and clean program area(s), including securing and maintaining materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s). Participate in individual and group supervision sessions and professional development opportunities as appropriate. Assessing our impact is critical to our work. All staff are expected to participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey. Other related duties as specified by the Director of Operations or Program Area Manager. GENERAL BGCB EXPECTATIONS Teaching youth/teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCB priority. QUALIFICATIONSRequired High school Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 1 year experience providing recreation programs for youth. Knowledge of youth development principles. Must be or become CPR / FA certified. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work clubhouse hours especially as seasons and service needs change. During the summer, clubhouse hours are operating from 8:00am-6:00pm but change when during regular after-school programming hours. Willing to break requirements into 2 shifts if necessary. All staff are required to adhere to COVID safety protocols put in place by BGCB and in adherence with EEC guidelines.
