Design complete systems using pre-engineered components and integrate them into functional assemblies. Manage and organize CAD files across local and cloud-based storage platforms. Collaborate with engineers to develop safe, practical, and manufacturable designs. Partner with fabrication vendors and internal assembly teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and production-ready. Revise existing designs, support retrofits, and implement continuous improvements to standards and templates. Provide drawings and documentation to support system assembly and production. Communicate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and clients as needed to clarify design requirements and resolve issues. Support CAD system optimization, including hardware/software recommendations and licensing considerations. Maintain strong adherence to drafting standards, tolerances, and best practices in manufacturing design. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; experience with AutoCAD or similar tools highly valued). Ability to create and manage complex assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings. Working knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal, and assembly. Understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and design for manufacturability principles. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. Self-starter capable of working independently while collaborating across teams. Strong communication skills and ability to gather and apply feedback from engineering and production teams. Proficiency with standard business tools (Microsoft Office, file management systems, etc.). Preferred: Experience designing mechanical or fluid/gas-based systems. Exposure to cloud-based CAD/PDM environments. Familiarity with structural frames, sheet metal, and fabricated assemblies. Experience working in small, fast-moving engineering or manufacturing environments. Education & Experience Associate's or technical degree in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred. 3-5+ years of hands-on CAD design experience using solid modeling tools in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Work Environment On-site role within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing setting. Small team environment requiring flexibility, ownership, and proactive problem-solving. Mix of new system design, revisions, and ongoing design support across multiple concurrent projects. Welcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
