POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior Electrical Engineer III provides electronics design, test, and analysis expertise in support of product development. This role is working onsite at the Global Headquarters in Zeeland, MI. WHAT YOU'LL DO Provide electronic design expertise in a cross-functional engineering team to develop and launch new products. Lead the development of test requirements, methods, and limits to confirm the quality of products during development and mass production. Utilize electrical CAD tools to perform electronic design for embedded applications. Utilize electrical design analysis and simulation tools to aid in electronic design and ensure products meet Gentex quality standards. Lead debugging and root cause analysis of complex electronic products. Lead cross-functional design reviews for electronic schematics and printed circuit board layouts as an expert in electronic design. Stay current with technology, manufacturing, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement of products, process, and methods. Manage relationships with external suppliers by communicating internal component application requirements and evaluating potential solutions. Utilize electronic design expertise to support technical exchanges with external customers. Mentor and foster professional growth of engineers and encourage career progression within Gentex. May supervise and manage staff, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, communicating expectations, and handling and/or supporting disciplinary actions of team members pursuant to Company policies and procedures. WHAT TO BRING Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. 5+ years of relevant professional working experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. WHAT WILL HELP Schematic capture and PCB layout experience using electronic design CAD tools such as Xpedition, OrCAD, Altium, or KiCad. Hands-on PCB assembly and prototyping skills, including: Soldering and rework, including fine-pitch components. Operation of a PCB router. Use of manual or semi-automated pick-and-place equipment. Working knowledge of PCB layout and manufacturing deliverables, including Gerbers, bills of materials, and pick-and-place files. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple design iterations efficiently. Demonstrated initiative in identifying and resolving design gaps. Experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion. Familiarity with Linux environments. Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, or Perl. Embedded software development experience Professional experience in new product development.
