Job Description Stevens Institute of Technology seeks a Specialist for the Office of Student Accounts who will be serving as an initial point of contact for internal and external constituents. The Specialist, under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Accounts, provides the highest level of customer service while working with our students, parents, and fellow employees to answer inquiries regarding students' accounts. The Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies while processing payments, analyzing data, and maintaining student account records accurately. The Specialist supports the overall goals and mission of the Office of Student Accounts and Stevens Institute of Technology. Essential Responsibilities: Provides superior customer service as the first point of contact in the Office of Student Accounts for students, families, faculty, and staff. Create a welcoming and energetic environment for office visitors. Uphold professional demeanor while assisting students and university constituents. Responds to questions and inquiries regarding students' accounts in person, by email, and by phone. Responsible for recording and depositing monies received in accordance with established departmental procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Organize, gather, and disseminate appropriate materials and information for student billing statements, 1098-T's, payments concerning outside scholarships, checks, money orders, 529 Plans, eCheck, credit card payments, NelNet Payment Plan, international wire transfer payments, refunding for payments and parent loans, and financial aid. Provides general administrative assistance, including opening and sorting mail, updating departmental schedule, and responding to both departmental email and voicemail. Participate in the Student Accounts collection efforts for past due account balances to support enrollment and retention. Work with the Office of Financial Aid to coordinate aid and disbursements for students and their families, and collaborate with the offices of Undergraduate Academics and Graduate Education to assist in resolution of past due balances that result in registration holds Maintain current knowledge of regulations, policies, and applicable requirements related to Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and Stevens, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IV. Safeguard assets and contribute to the sound internal control environment. Use technology in order to enhance the student experience by assessing current operations to look for efficiencies. Attend campus events as a representative of the Office of Student Accounts. Assist with departmental projects as needed Minimum Qualifications: 2 years of experience in cashiering 2 years of customer service experience Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to multi-task and quickly shift between tasks Ability to work extended hours Knowledge and Skills: Must demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a strong willingness to learn new skills. Prior working experience in a college/university environment is preferred. Department Office of Student Accounts Compensation Range In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,600.00 - $63,466.67. This range represents the University's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
