At Jacobs, we’re transforming intangible ideas into innovative solutions designing the future - today.As an Electrical Engineer in our New York office you will be joining a team that provides a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. Our diverse range of skills include medium voltage to low voltage power distribution system design, power studies (short circuit, coordination and & arc flash), lighting design, transportation and aviation infrastructure fire and life safety systems, water/wastewater facilities, mission critical environments and renewable energy infrastructure.While working in this role you’ll be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously including design, perform calculations, prepare contract drawings and specifications and prepare basis of design reports. Part of the role includes delegating work to junior staff and overseeing drawings, specifications and calculations to ensure they meet applicable codes and project requirements. As an associate electrical engineer, you will also attend client meetings during which you will interface with contractors and vendors without minimal supervision.Some of the experience you will need to draw on are:Design full low and medium voltage electrical systems, including power, emergency power systems, batteries, lighting, fire alarm and signaling systemsFrom planning studies to final design, the associate electrical engineer will lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projectsDesign lighting systems including associated control systemsPrepare load analysis for each stage of designPrepare detailed project electrical systems drawingsPrepare basis of design reports and technical specifications for the projectExpertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industrySelect and prepare specifications for electrical equipmentCoordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and with project architects across multiple locationsManage several different assignments simultaneouslyWork with a Senior Level Electrical Engineer for quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimatesMentor junior staffDesign your career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed - today and into tomorrow.Basic Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or other applied technical disciplines related to the built environment.• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive project management experience, including demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects and administer design and construction contracts in an owner-side, consulting, or public-sector environment.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documentation, correspondence, and presentation materials.• Experience in client service and stakeholder management, including coordination with diverse internal and external parties.• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a variety of project management and document control tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, MS Project), primarily for project oversight, coordination, and reporting.• Demonstrated flexibility and situational awareness, with the ability to adapt to changing project conditions and stakeholder needs.• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment, document decisions, and escalate issues appropriately within established governance structures.Preferred Qualifications• Professional Engineer, EIT, or CCM• Experience in the southeast US construction industry• Excellent written communications skills• Experience managing consultants and contractors in an owner-side or oversight role.Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
