Position Type: Student Support Services (certified)/Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 2/3/2026 Location: Mark DeLay Elementary School Date Available: 08/17/2026 Closing Date: When filled Speech Language Pathologist Location: Mark DeLay School (Preschool For All Program), and Lace School (Grades 3-5) QUALIFICATIONS: Current Illinois Professional Educator License with a Speech Language Pathologist endorsement Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited university. REPORTS TO: Principal/Director of Student Services JOB GOAL: District 61 is seeking a child-centered speech language pathologist to support the development of students' speech and language skills within the school setting. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct and consultative speech therapy to meet students' individual speech and language needs through the IEP and MTSS processes. Actively communicates and collaborates with students, families, and other staff members. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing and referring students who have suspected or identified speech and language needs. Conducts screenings and comprehensive evaluations of students' speech and language needs and makes recommendations. Completes written reports for IEP meetings. Serves as a member of a student's IEP team. Shares knowledge and resources on a variety of topics including strategies, interventions and supports to develop students' communication skills within and outside of the classroom setting. Utilizes assistive devices or technology to support students' language development. Provides individual, small group, and classroom interventions. Adheres to applicable principles and practices of speech therapy, district policies and procedures, and state regulations. Completes Medicaid billing in a timely manner. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations. Completes all district and state reporting requirements. Accepts such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year. Full-time employment. Contractual salary as established by the agreement between the Darien 61 Board of Education and DEA. Darien Public Schools Darien, Illinois Interested individual should complete on-line application.
