JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Test Engineer (Advanced Router) Responsible for running daily test execution, writing test cases, executing test cases, reporting, troubleshooting and create defects for: • WiFi7 • Spec Ready • SCPS Services • Plume • Static IP • WIN • POD New Version • Regular Firmware Maintenance Releases. Experience working with routers, strong Unix experience. Experience working in a Production environment. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for day-to-day testing on several models of routers, including working/coordinating with both onshore and offshore resources while also becoming an expert in the products being tested. Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and execute sanity and regression suites. Coordinate and collaborate with Design, Architecture, Development, and Operations to ensure optimal customer experience. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status Works with automated testing frameworks and related infrastructures; scripts specific tests to measure software quality and functionality Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements and integrates them into business processes to address the business needs Conducts router Band Steering and Dynamic Channel Selection testing Scheduled, executes, and reports on 802.11a and 802.11ac latency performance Valdiates remote commands to optimize network performance, change WiFi settings, and apply features are working correctly Tests DHCP address assignment, broadcasting, renewal, and other advanced router features Manages Product Testing deliverables such as documentation, training, completion of testing, test case management, etc. Conducts both happy-path and negative tests scenarios while doing exploratory testing Ensures proper maintenance and tracking of test cases and test accounts Provides overall direction for all areas of Product Testing for routers Represents Product Testing in planning meetings on all engineering projects to provide input and guidance on testing best practices Responsible for compliance with company engineering standards, policies and procedures Maintains good relations with peers, team, other organizations and vendors Be a part of an effective team and contribute to drive a high performance culture and environment Actively interviews and onboards testing resources REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner Self starter, self motivated, driven individual Ability to work well with shifting priorities Deep understanding of Linux Kernel Solid understanding of 802.11 specifications Proficient understanding of Networking terminology and components (e.g. DHCP, IP Routing) Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) Proficient with network analysis tools, such as Wireshark, WiFi Analyzer, Heat Mapping Tools, PingPlotter) Solid understanding of the OSI model Proficient using JIRA for work management and reporting Experience with Test Rails is a plus Creative solving of technical problems to ensure the ability to translate technical requirements Ability to track multiple test efforts simultaneously and to be able to synthesize the results in fast paced environment Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure Ability to prioritize and organize effectively Ability to provide coaching and counseling when necessary Ability to supervise and motivate others Strong leadership skills with proven ability to provide effective, results oriented direction Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) Knowledge of company products and services Education BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience Testing Certification ISTQB Advanced Level preferred Required Skills : - 5+ years of Wifi Router Testing - Strong Unix - Database testing, SQL - MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL (80% of the role is traveling to: Cheyenne, WY - Austin, TX - North Carolina - Florida)
