Education programs are conducted within a variety of instructional settings and are designed to meet the needs of an itinerant population, with open-entry and exit, through large group, small groups, and independent study. All programs serve resident adult inmates awaiting a hearing or serving a sentence. The Contra Costa County Office of Education is committed to creating an accessible, supportive environment and an educational experience that recognizes diversity and cultural competence as integral components of academic excellence. The teacher in this position will work primarily at the West County Detention Facility location, depending on student needs, may also provide instruction to students at the Clayton and Martinez Detention facilities.
