Announcement of Vacancy for School Level Special Needs Administrator Dorman High School Qualifications: South Carolina Principal Certificate or eligibility required Strong knowledge of IDEA and Special Education Policy Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience working with students with multiple disabilities Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators from multiple schools Performance Responsibilities: Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. Provide crisis intervention and support for students (point person for behavior concerns). Assist with student behavior intervention plans including FBA data collection and BIP implementation (working with psych & team to collect data through observations with write up for FBA in Enrich. Train on implementation of BIP with staff, including checks to ensure staff is following BIP- this could be for SPED, 504, or students in the special education process. This does not mean that the SLBASS is responsible for FBA/BIP data collection). Modeling behavioral and/or academic strategies for any student in the building that is struggling- not specifically those identified as sped. This could also be working with MTSS teams at the school level. Assist with classroom management systems for teachers. Parent liaison for special education students that are having difficulty with behavioral expectations (help communicate between school and families). Help ensure social-emotional classroom lessons are being provided. Attending IEP meetings as LEA or supporting special education teachers. Monitor implementation of student IEPs (ensure accommodations/modifications and services are appropriate and being implemented). Conducting formative classroom observations and providing written feedback for teachers (observe speech lessons, resource lessons, SC lessons- are they using curriculum provided. Ensure instructional practices are meeting expectations). Providing training for paraprofessionals regarding behavior, curriculum, and supporting the classroom needs. Provide support in writing and implementing lesson plans with new staff (based on school requirements). Provide relevant professional development to school staff. Expert for implementation of special education curriculums. Monitor IEP compliance monthly - meeting with special education staff individually to discuss IEP compliance & conduct monthly meetings with departments to discuss relevant topics. Conduct district special education training, as needed and assigned. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as necessary Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign. Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations.
