About the Job Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious CDL Class B Driver to join our waste services team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty collection trucks to provide essential waste and recycling services to residential or commercial customers. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position that requires high spatial awareness and a commitment to customer service. Primary Responsibilities:Safe Vehicle Operation: Drive a Class B vehicle (Rear-Loader, Front-Loader, or Side-Loader) on pre-assigned routes, navigating narrow streets, alleys, and heavy traffic. Collection & Loading: Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and tip bins. For rear-load routes, manually lift and throw bags/bins into the hopper. Equipment Inspection: Perform daily Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections (DVIR). Check hydraulic hoses, fluids, tires, and brakes to ensure the truck is safe for operation. Route Efficiency: Complete assigned routes within the allotted time while maintaining accurate electronic logs of pickups and disposal trips to the landfill or transfer station. Public Safety: Maintain a high level of vigilance for pedestrians, cyclists, and low-hanging obstacles (power lines/trees) while operating the vehicle. Required Qualifications:License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B or Higher) with an Air Brakes endorsement. Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred (waste industry experience is a plus). Medical: Must possess a current DOT Medical Card and pass a pre-employment drug screen/background check. Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations in the last 3 years. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly and climb in and out of the truck cab 50+ times per shift. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of hydraulic systems or mechanical levers. Spatial Awareness: Proficiency in backing up large vehicles in tight spaces and using mirrors effectively. Customer Service: Professional attitude when interacting with residents and business owners.
