Position Type: Student Support Services/COTA Date Posted: 8/1/2025 Location: Fall River Public Schools The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System: Position: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (C.O.T.A.) Job Description: The Occupational Therapist assists students with disabilities by implementing the prescribed occupational therapy process. Performance Responsibilities: Conduct screenings and assessments as a part of the Chapter 766 evaluation process. Itinerant therapeutic intervention for Special Education students pre-school through high school. Serve as a consultant to both Regular and Special Education staff. Serve as a consultant to Adapted Physical Education Teachers. Participate in in-service training for Regular and Special Education staff. Attend evaluation meetings as an active participant, re: writing general and specific objectives for Individual Educational Plans. Conduct periodic meetings with parents to foster a better understanding of Occupational Therapy. To write reports as required by federal and state agencies, and the Fall River Public Schools. Perform other appropriate duties at the direction of the Director of Special Education. Confer regularly with Registered Occupational Therapist concerning screenings, evaluations and educational plans. Required Qualifications: Completion of course requirements for C.O.T.A. licensing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. C.O.T.A. Certification. Two years clinical, pediatric experience with Special Needs students preferred. The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
