Senior Vice President of Underwriting

Company: HM Insurance Group Job Overview: The Senior Vice President of Underwriting will lead the profitability and revenue management for HM Insurance Group's billion-dollar stop loss business. This pivotal role includes developing and implementing pricing and underwriting strategies to meet the objectives set by our board of directors. You will be integral to corporate strategic planning, exploring business opportunities, and assessing market conditions to inform both short and long-term strategies for the organization. As a leader in this dynamic environment, you will effectively manage a diverse Underwriting Department while overseeing external partners who perform underwriting duties on behalf of HM Insurance Group. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and monitor pricing and underwriting strategies for all business lines under HM Insurance Group. Lead and manage the Underwriting Department, fostering team collaboration and performance. Oversee the management of external partners conducting underwriting activities aligned with HM Insurance Group's goals. Engage in shaping corporate strategic initiatives and build strong relationships with key external producers and vendors. Perform additional duties as needed. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree Over 10 years of experience in underwriting across multiple product lines Preferred Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in business Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven leadership ability in diverse environments Deep expertise in underwriting stop loss, Workers Compensation, and ancillary life and accident products Strong negotiation and closing skills Ability to adapt to changing environments effectively Excellent coaching skills; able to think globally Scope of Responsibility: This position does manage other employees, with 5 direct reports and a total of 65 direct and indirect reports. Work Environment: Travel is required. This role necessitates teamwork, and timely attendance is crucial. Employees may need to work irregular hours, including holidays and weekends. Compensation: Pay Range Minimum: $198,900.00 Pay Range Maximum: $424,900.00 Base pay is influenced by qualifications, experience, and contributions, alongside internal equity, market analysis, and business needs.
