Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101. Why you'll love this position: The Missouri Health Science Education section intended to assist health science educators across the state who teach at the secondary, adult, and/or postsecondary level. Health Science Education includes a variety of programs that promote health career opportunities to students. Responsibilities - What you'll do Provide technical assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEA) and area career centers in the promotion, development, implementation, and evaluation of Health Science Education programs to reinforce academic education and integration with workforce and college readiness activities. Lead the development, revision, and implementation of model Health Science Education curricula, and design and deliver professional development for instructors to support instructional quality, program consistency, and student achievement. Oversee and provide statewide interpretation and guidance on educator and student licensure, certification, and program accreditation requirements for Health Science Education programs. Review and evaluate program proposals, budgets, and payment requests, and make funding and approval recommendations to support Health Science Education programming. Serve as Missouri HOSA State Executive Director, supporting the State Advisor in planning and administering statewide HOSA activities, including contract management, event logistics, digital registration systems, presenter coordination, and supervision of staff and volunteers, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serve as a primary liaison to health education regulatory boards, accrediting agencies, postsecondary institutions, and LEAs; build and maintain collaborative partnerships with various state and national associations such as Missouri Area Health Education Centers, healthcare providers and associations, licensing agencies within the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and related stakeholders. Represent the Department in state and national professional organizations, including Missouri Health Science Education and the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education, and serve as Missouri's official state liaison for Project Lead The Way (Biomedical Science) and the National Consortium for Health Science Education. Work collaboratively within the Office of College and Career Readiness and other offices within the Division of Learning services to support the overall mission of DESE. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or Assistant Commissioner of the Office of College and Career Readiness. Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance. Qualifications - All you need for successMinimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse credential and three or more years of experience in teaching, coordinating, or supervising Health Science education. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
