Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU) / Open Heart PICU position at a Level 1 Trauma and top-rated academic children's hospital in Florida, requiring a minimum of 2-3 years of PCICU/open heart experience and prior travel experience. Responsibilities Work setting is a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital and top-rated children's hospital in Florida Position is within the Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU) / Open Heart PICU Patient population includes a diverse range of complex pediatric acute care patients, including open heart cases Shift is 12-hour nights, 1900–0730, with variable days 36 hours per week Holidays and weekends required Floating to other units is required; travel staff float before staff RNs during the float period No block scheduling EMR is Epic; recent experience required Provide complex pediatric acute and cardiac post-operative nursing care within a leading academic medical system Unit manager interviews are required as part of the selection process All new RN starts must pass a specialty knowledge exam and an EKG exam, each with a minimum score of 80%; 100% of lethal rhythms must be correctly identified on the EKG exam regardless of overall score Nurses are encouraged to review cardiac rhythms in the week prior to their start date; extended remedial training may result if lethal rhythms are not identified correctly No time off (RTO) is permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment; a maximum of 6 RTO days is allowed for a 13-week contract Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate First-time travelers are not eligible for this position; prior travel experience is required Requirements Active FL or Compact RN license currently in hand Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS Minimum 2–3 years of RN experience with at least 3 years in a Level 2/3 PCICU or open heart PICU setting Open heart PICU (PCICU) experience must be clearly documented in work history Prior travel nursing experience required Recent Epic EMR experience required Must be willing and able to float to other units At least one professional reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration Proof of flu vaccination or a physician-documented medical exemption (egg allergy is not a valid exemption) required prior to start Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-677273.
