In this role, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and manipulation of wastewater, stormwater, and potable water GIS data, utilizing advanced techniques to develop and manage complex data models. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless operation of GIS systems by fulfilling user requests, supporting field crews, managing application integrations, and troubleshooting. Candidate must be well versed in Esri ArcGIS Pro, have familiarity working in an Enterprise environment, and possess strong computer skills with a capacity to learn new and emerging technologies to support decision makers and enable field crews to safely and efficiently perform their job functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive. Designs, builds, and maintains GIS data including research, database design, data maintenance, and mapping analysis. Provide GIS database editing, geocoding, geoprocessing, data conversion, workflow management, spatial analysis, and quality control processes in desktop and web-based environments. Publish GIS data, maps, analysis, reports, charts, and graphs in the form of static and online content. Research, create and produce spatial layers, analysis, maps, regulatory maps, reports, charts, and cartographic displays. Advises users on application of GIS; trains users in the use of specialized software. Performs spatial analyses to provide map products, tabular data and reports. Defines scope and specifications for projects; plans, documents and coordinates. Performs creation and maintenance of GIS data in versioned geodatabases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or conversion of other sources of digital data. Maintains data integrity of mapping system through QA/QC processes. Maintains the associated Metadata Ability to train GIS users on GIS products and services. Assist with the creation of documents and presentations to convey recommendations, division/departmental communication initiatives, and GIS-related technical/business documentation. Support field crews with GNSS data collection efforts, harnessing Trimble GNSS technology and Esri Field Maps. Enhance current workflows through scripting and automation. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and functionality. Knowledge of complex data models such as the Utility Network or Geometric Network Knowledge of coordinate systems, scales and projections. Knowledge of spatial and statistical analysis. Knowledge of Federal Geographic Data Committee standards. Knowledge and skills in Cartography. Proficiency in computer operations and standard systems. Knowledge of specialized software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Survey123, ESRI Field Maps. Ability to work effectively with GIS users. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical users, both orally and in writing. Knowledge or principles and practices of project coordination and management. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with GIS users, other city departments and staff, and outside agencies. Required Qualifications MinimumPreferred College degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university Experience Requirements Five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
