Department Overview The Cloud Platform and Services team plays a crucial role in the development and management of essential cloud infrastructure and platform services. As part of Motorola Solutions' Video and Software division, we provide secure and efficient communication solutions for public safety and enterprise markets worldwide, utilizing cloud computing infrastructure on Azure, AWS, and GCP. Job Description As a Platform Engineer, you will: Develop integral platform services for our SaaS solutions Design and implement CI/CD pipelines guided by DevOps principles Instrument services in alignment with Site Reliability Engineering best practices Support secure and highly available deployments globally We seek someone with a strong passion for automation, innovation, and deployment processes who will contribute to shaping the engineering culture and best practices within our Video and Software organization. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Expertly manage Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, and related technologies Scope, design, and develop tailored solutions leveraging the Elastic and/or Prometheus stacks on Kubernetes Operate expansive Elasticsearch and Prometheus clusters (hundreds of nodes) Enhance developer productivity and minimize delivery times through automation Participate in On-call shifts for services created by the team Maintain US Citizenship and US residency Lead by example in early morning daily standups as we collaborate with international teams Qualifications: At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, especially in platform engineering Experience with Prometheus and Elasticsearch US Citizenship and US Residency required Background clearance as required by our government customers must be obtainable Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Linux/Unix Administration Previous work operating Elasticsearch and/or Prometheus clusters Experience being on-call for team-developed services Proven record of developing and automating services on Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Foundational Skills: Helm, Kubernetes, Docker proficiency Infrastructure/Configuration as Code expertise CI/CD experience Linux Administration and Shell Scripting Programming in Java 21+ (Spring Boot), Go, and/or Python Version control with Git Working collaboratively with Third-Party Vendors and Open Source Projects Experience in Vulnerability Analysis Nice to Have Skills: Familiarity with event streaming platforms like Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs, or GCP PubSub IAM expertise in Azure Active Directory, AWS IAM, or GCP IAM Proficiency in Github Actions This position requires working in high-security environments governed by the US Department of Justice's CJIS Security Policy, necessitating a stringent fingerprint background check. Note: The candidate must be on-site at least once a week at one of the following locations: Allen, TX, Salt Lake City, UT, or Schaumburg, IL. Target Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 USD.
