Job Title: Quality Control Inspector Company: Jadin Tech Reports To: Site Lead Location: Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California FLSA Status: Non-Exempt SCA Salary: $34.32 per hour + $6.55 HW + $7.70 pension SUMMARY Provide consultation to Uniformed Service members and DoD Civilian employees concerning policies and procedures for the shipment/storage of personal property, privately owned vehicles, and mobile homes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsibilities Ensure that all provided reports are accurate and timely. Prepare and/or processes documents to complete moves and arrange for shipping of property including rail, air, sea, and vehicle. Perform telephonic and physical inspections. Calculate costs or review and verify shippers' invoices for proper charges. Complete reapprovals within 3 government business days. Compile and submit QC/counseling reports to Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) before the 5th calendar day of every month. Manage contractor's performance during packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating and unpacking at owner's residence. Inspect vehicles and ensure materials are clean, proper packing methods are applied, the types and sizes of cartons/containers are appropriate, and materials used in the packing process are suitable. Assist with the initial qualification inspections of agent's facilities applying to participate in the DoD Personal Property program. Resolve controversial procedural problems involving contractors and customers. Periodically inspect storage warehouses to determine that the storage methods meet established storage requirements. Survey warehouse for fire hazards, security violations and document inspection results. Redirect workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and to accommodate daily workload fluctuations. Perform weight/re-weighs on shipments as required and maintain records. Complete monthly inspection reports. Advise members on proper claim procedures, how to check for evidence that proper packing methods were used, and to annotate carrier/agent performance. Contact freight terminals to correct misdirected or mismarked shipments for correct delivery. Prepare reports of damaged property using photographs as evidence of improper packing methods. Ensure employees understand company policies for the proper preparation of personal property for the shipment and/or storage of specialized items for domestic and overseas locations. Ensure employees adhere to applicable laws, rules and regulations. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate Degree or higher is desirable Possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions Must be a US Citizen Must have and maintain a SECRET security clearance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the full range of transportation policies, practices, procedures and techniques of personal property management, entitlements for shipping and storage. Knowledge of regulations, directives, local operating procedures, and governing entitlements, concerning shipment and storage of personal property. Knowledge of documentation required for domestic and/or foreign shipments. Knowledge of transportation instructions and regulations that relate to the movement of a wide range of specialized shipments. Knowledge of automated transportations systems. Knowledge of Department of Defense and Air Force transportation instructions. Able to speak, read, write, and understand English proficiently. Strong customer service skill and client focus. Ability to independently recognize, trouble-shot and resolve problems. Demonstrate skills in fact-finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of solid actions plans to resolve problems. Ability to gather, present fact, and communicate effectively. Possess the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Must be able to utilize a personal computer and Microsoft Office Applications. While performing the outdoor field duties of this job, the employee will also be exposed to outside weather conditions and other conditions such as loud noises, fumes, odors, dust, etc. This position may require travel.
