Job Description

This position is for the full academic year, open only to enrolled upperclassmen. Incoming freshmen are not eligible to apply for this position.Expected hours of work per week: 5-15 hours per week Work Location & Hours: Carter 138; 8am-4:30pm Qualifications for Position: Organization skills Friendly and welcoming to visitors in the office Able to keep sensitive information concerning fellow students confidential Flexible and able to adapt to different projects/schedules asked of them Expected Duties and Responsibilities: Post and/or create flyers, and other advertising materials for Student Development related events. Help compile information for the Weekly Newsletters. Help with the planning and execution of departmental projects, events, and programs (Student Life Breaks, Fall Fun Days, etc.) Help with the organization of the Student Development Office and storage room and keep it clean. Help with communication to and from the office by answering the phone, replying to emails, and sending email blasts as instructed by Student Development Staff. Be respectful to students coming into the office for meetings with Student Development Staff by not discussing their reason for being in the office and keeping the matters of the office confidential. Be a resource to students and visitors who may have questions about Student Development or student life. Regularly check campus bulletin boards to make sure they are organized and up to date. Provide golf cart rides for injured or ill students. Resume Skills Development Career & Self-Development: Display curiosity; seek out opportunities to learn. Communication: Communicate in a clear, organized manner so that others, inside or outside of the Covenant community, can understand via email, in person or by phone. Ask appropriate questions for specific information from supervisors, professors, and others. Critical Thinking: Proactively anticipate needs and prioritize action steps. Global Literacy: Keep an open mind to diverse ideas and new ways of thinking. Leadership: Plan, initiate, manage, complete, and evaluate projects. Serve as a role model to others by approaching tasks with confidence and a positive attitude. Professionalism: Demonstrate dependability (e.g., report consistently for work - if you have to miss work, communicate this to your supervisor in advance.) Have an attention to detail, resulting in few if any errors in their work. Prioritize/complete tasks to accomplish organizational goals. Taking ownership of the office by keeping it organized and clean. Teamwork: Effectively manage conflict, respect diverse personalities, and meet ambiguity with resilience. Collaborate with others to achieve common goals; working together effectively and sharing ideas and responsibilities. Technology: Identify appropriate technology for completing specific tasks and quickly adapt to unfamiliar and new technologies. Enhance or develop skills with Canva, Sheets documents, and Slate.
