They will provide or prescribe appropriate treatment options based on their findings. Using a patient-centered approach, the physician will communicate treatment options to patients, address their concerns, and answer questions. Their expertise will be employed to prevent illness and injury among patients. The oncologist will document accurately and completely in the medical record for the purposes of continuing care, compliance, quality, safety, and billing. They will provide leadership and feedback to the clinical team to enhance patient care. Collaboration with colleagues and referrals to other sources of care will be made when clinically appropriate. The medical oncologist will be available for office visits, phone calls, electronic communication, and on-call coverage as per policy. Participation in organizational efforts to improve quality, safety, and patient experience is expected. Continuous learning and self-improvement will be emphasized. The physician will promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Additional duties may be assigned as defined in the employment agreement and as required by specialty. The physician will typically see around 10-14 patients per day. They will cover new inpatient consults during the day with assistance from an APP for inpatient follow-up after the initial consult. The clinic serves hematology and oncology patients. The physician will participate in tumor board meetings and any accreditation meetings that occur during their tenure. The clinic is staffed with a nurse navigator, clinic RN, medical assistants, social worker, dietitian, palliative care, onsite pharmacy, and onsite lab.
